Whitney Thornton, MS, RD, LDN
 
Whitney's passion for nutrition began at an early age while being involved with numerous sports. Her knowledge evolved throughout her university studies at The University of Tennessee at Martin (UTM) where she completed her B.S. Family and Consumer Sciences with a concentration in Dietetics and then on to complete her Dietetic Internship and Masters through UTM. Her experience includes: public health, clinical settings, outpatient counseling and consulting. Whitney's special interests are chronic conditions such as diabetes and heart disease, weight loss and weight control, healthy eating, pediatrics and sports nutrition. Whitney is a member of the Weight Management (WM) and Sports, Cardiovascular, and Wellness Nutrition practice groups of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She holds a certificate training in Childhood and Adolescent Weight Management. Whitney has recently completed her first half marathon and looks forward to her next. In her spare time, she enjoys running, cycling, crafting and spending time with family. Whitney lives by the motto "Everything in moderation"!

Sharon is a Master's level Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from the University of Tennessee at Martin and a Masters of Science from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. 

 

 She is a member of the TN Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics along with the local West TN Academy.  She is also a member of the Nutrition Entrepreneurs (NE) and Diabetes Care Education (DCE) Practice Groups of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.  She holds both a certificate of training in Adult Weight Management and Childhood and Adolescent Weight Management.  Sharon has taught an Introduction to Nutrition course at both the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and Lambuth University.

 

  She is currently the West TN Academy Treasurer and was named the 2005-2006 Outstanding Dietetics Educator of the Year and 2003 Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year by the TN Academy and West TN Academy. 

 

Sharon enjoys leading an active life and spending time with her family.
