Breakfast:
 As we all have heard, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But, you may ask, why is breakfast so important?... Food is fuel and energy for our bodies. The consumption of an early morning meal increases the metabolic rate (how fast you burn calories) and kick starts your body into gear, telling it what to expect the rest of the day. If breakfast isn't had, your body doesn't process your next meal as quickly and tries to hold onto those nutrients. Since it didn't get any morning fuel, it tries to hold onto the afternoon meal as long as possible- instead of burning it right away.
 
What can I make at home for a quick and healthy breakfast??
 
A healthy breakfast is important for everyone. To power up with breakfast, try these quick-to-fix ideas:
 
  • Mix up a breakfast smoothie made with low-fat milk, frozen strawberries and a banana.
  • Top a toaster waffle with low fat yogurt and fruit.
  • Stuff a whole wheat pita with a sliced, hard-cooked egg and low-fat cheese.
  • Spread a flour tortilla with peanut butter. Add a whole banana and roll up.
